I’m stressing about The Walk. OK, make that really stressing.

Should I sashay or strut?

Act cool or indifferent?

Smile or be serious?

And what if I should trip? Fall off the stage? Don’t do the proper turn? Have, ahem, a wardrobe malfunction?Continue Reading

BECAUSE THESE THINGS CAN HAPPEN.

Deep breaths.

When organizers of the Triad Goodwill Rock the Runway Fashion Show asked me to be a model, they didn’t know what they were getting.

First and foremost, a stress basket.

But more important: a metrosexual of the highest order.

A man who goes to a hair stylist. That’s right. I said it.

A man whose wardrobe is like playing roulette: Always bet on black, baby.

A man who knows the difference between Tom Ford and Gerald Ford.

So when you ask me to be in a fashion show, I’M GONNA TAKE IT SERIOUSLY.

Of course, this isn’t the reason I’m in the show.

It’s because I said yes.

And because organizers were probably hoping that I’d feel obligated to write about it.

Guess what? It worked.

Thing is, it never occurred to me that because I’m in a Goodwill fashion show, I’d be, you know, modeling clothes from Goodwill. Which was the point, right?

Still, that was a shocker.

Sorry. Just being honest.

But equally as shocking: I really like the clothes I’ll be wearing in the show.

One is this cool jeans and V-neck combo — like something out of an Old Navy ad.

The other is a rocking black ensemble I may have to buy.

I met a stylist for the show at a local Goodwill recently — with the caveat that NO POLO SHIRTS would be involved — and was surprised at how nice the clothes were that she picked for me.

As I was trying stuff on, though, I wondered how they ended up at Goodwill. And who might need them after me.
