What better way to celebrate the Fourth of July than to enjoy good food, drink and games all while listening to live music by local bands?

Greensboro's 34th annual Fun Fourth Festival begins Friday with entertainment for the whole family.

Here's a glance at this year's festival. All events are free, unless otherwise noted.

KICKOFF BLOCK PARTY

What: Includes food, cold beer and dancing in the street to the sounds of The Soul Brothers Band at 7 p.m. and The Embers at 8:30 p.m.

When: 7-11 p.m. Friday

Where: Summit, Lindsay and Church streets

Tickets: $10 at the gate

Parking: Free parking in the Church Street Deck and area surface lots

FUN FOURTH PARADE

What: Parade downtown beginning at Greene and Lindsay streets, proceeding south on Greene, east on Market, north on Church and ending at the Greensboro Children's Museum. Prizes are awarded for parade participants in the categories of Most Patriotic and Best in Parade.

When: 9:30 a.m. Saturday

FUN FOURTH FESTIVAL

What: Food, amusement rides and games, cool mist tents, a Letters to the Troops tent, kids' crafts and games, a "craft scene" with handcrafted items from more than 75 craftsmen from the East Coast and five stages of live music and entertainment.

When: 9:30 a.m.- 6 p.m. Saturday

I sure am going to miss Fun Fourth in GSO. I am in SW Michigan and there is no fun festival planned like GSO Fun Fourth! Have a good safe fun time!! And the best fireworks... are really in High Point.. go find a good spot at Oak Hollow golf course and those fireworks will look amazing!
